Dr. Paul Kalra  




Dr. Paul Kalra is a Consultant Cardiologist at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust.

He is also the UK’s Principle Investigator for an international randomised study evaluating the treatment of anaemia in patients with heart failure.

He has an international research profile with over 75 peer reviewed publications. He is also the editor of textbook ‘Specialist Training in Cardiology’ which was highly commended in the 2006 BMA Medical Book Competition.

He is currently deputy chair of the British Society for Heart Failure, which seeks to drive up national standards of heart failure care. In Portsmouth, he developed and led a comprehensive integrated heart failure service across primary and secondary care (pop. 650,000), including complex pacing (defibrillator/biventricular pacing).
