Q. Who are the babylon GPs?

A. All babylon GPs are IMC registered, based in Ireland, and have extensive professional experience. More information about our babylon GPs can be found on Our Irish Doctors page.


Q. What kind of phone do I need?

A. You will be able to speak to your babylon GP using your smartphone (either iPhone or Android), and you will need to be connected to the internet. Where possible we recommend using WiFi, rather than 3G or 4G, as this usually gives the most reliable connection.


Q. What happens if the internet drops out while I’m speaking to my GP?

A. Don't worry. If during your video call you lose connection due to a dip in your WiFi, your babylon GP will phone you straight away using the in-app call facility. You will still be able to access the audio recording of your consultation in the ‘Clinical records’ section of the app.


Q. Will my regular GP know the details of my consultation?

A. When booking a consultation with a babylon GP you will be asked if you would like to share the details of that appointment with your regular doctor. If you choose this a paper summary of your consultation will be posted to your regular doctor. 


Q. How soon can I get an appointment?

A. Depending on the time of the day that you book, you can get an appointment within two hours of your request. Often appointments are available in less than 30 minutes. You can also choose to book for another time and date that is convenient for you. babylon doctors are available from 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday.


Q. Will I be able to choose a GP or select a GP I know on babylon health?

A. The GP who is free at your preferred time of appointment will host your consultation. However, if you would like to see the same GP for your next appointment, you can discuss and organise this with the GP while you are having the initial consultation. Alternatively please contact and the team can advise and help you.


Q. Is there any limit on how long the call can last or how many issues a customer can bring up on one call?

A. Your consultation time slot is 10 minutes and a patient can discuss any number of ailments in that time, much like a normal GP visit. If you feel your appointment will take longer than 10 minutes we would advise booking an extra slot.


Q. What happens if I miss my appointment?

A. Don't worry, you can book another consultation through the app. You need to ensure that at the time of your consultation you have a good Wi-Fi or mobile internet connection. You can cancel your appointment if you think you may not be available at the time of your consultation.

If you are subscribed to babylon, you will not be charged for cancelling your GP consultation.

If you are a pay-as-you-go member and you cancel your appointment less than two hours before, you will still be charged. However, if you cancel more than 2 hours before your appointment you will be fully refunded. If you book an appointment by mistake, you also have up to five minutes after booking to cancel the appointment without incurring a charge. Q. What is the cost of the app if I want to subscribe?

A. When you subscribe for just €7.99 per month you will get unlimited GP consultations in minutes, wherever you are. If you would like to pay-as-you-go, individual GP consultations cost €25.


Q. When can I get an appointment?

A. You can speak to a babylon GP between the hours of 8am-8pm Monday to Saturday, excluding bank holidays.
