GDPR and Babylon: Our commitment to data privacy

Transforming healthcare

At Babylon, our mission is to make healthcare accessible and affordable for everyone. Technology is allowing us to make this vision a reality. We are already:

  • Delivering primary care to one of the most remote areas of the world

  • Increasing the number of patients doctors can treat

AI and our technology

These breakthroughs wouldn’t have been possible without our technological developments. With a severe shortage of doctors around the world, it’s vital that we create digital solutions to deliver safe, effective healthcare to everyone.

AI enables the automation of tasks that are natural to humans. Our smart technology can automate certain processes, provide better insight to our doctors and track our members’ health more efficiently. To achieve all of this, we need to process your data.

What is GDPR?

On 25th May 2018, the EU’s new General Data Protection Regulation will go into effect. We welcome this, because over recent decades technology has evolved much faster than the laws that govern its use. The GDPR aims to bring laws on data handling up to date, to make sure that EU citizens’ personal data is protected.

We take our responsibility for our users’ data very seriously and think GDPR is a great opportunity for the organisations which rely on individuals’ personal data to become more transparent about what they do with it. It’s also a chance for people to learn about how the services they love work, and to make better decisions about how they interact with them.

What we’re doing at Babylon

We’ve made some changes to our systems to give our members more options over how their data is handled. We’ve done our best to make these processes as transparent and easy to understand as possible.

You might notice some changes to the Babylon apps and website, including:

  • Updated Privacy Policy

  • New controls in our app

  • Updated Terms & Conditions
